You know, I really am a fan of this work by Haidt. I was enthralled with this tour of sorts through the insights of psychology, sociology, and evolutionary biology up until modern times and where they have gotten us in terms of understanding human purpose (and striving after it) and happiness. It was immensely gratifying to see that there is at least one practitioner of a scientific specialty that has a grasp on the frontiers and cumulative insights gained through the efforts of many over time in his arena of thought and who can capably weave them together into a coherent unity that yields a benefit to readers. Please obtain a copy of this excellent piece of writing. You will be better off for having read it!
